River Place OB/GYN

Went here following my previous obgyn. Saw Dr. Pepper, since I had to reschedule due to starting my cycle. Dr. Pepper was great. The 3 stars is for front desk not knowing where the office is located on Limestone within the giant parking lot among many other businesses well enough to help direct anyone who’s never been there. It is located directly next to the closed down Morelias. The girl kept saying across the street from Chilis and 5 Below. They have a sign on the building that faces away from where you’d see it driving in from Limestone, and no storefront label on the doors or the sides of the building that is viable. I could not see what building I was entering at eye level. I left 45 minutes early to get there on time. I was still on time, but almost in tears on arrival thinking I’d have to reschedule or cancel because of the confusing directions and the entrance door not having the practice name written on it. I am unsure if I will return. Dr. Pepper was great. The check in girl was a bit sassy when I said I couldn’t find it and was not very friendly or welcoming. I’m not a trouble patient either. Just was was not a great experience for being a new patient. Signage needs to be better marked so folks can find it. And front end staff need to better describe where they are.

We've had a great experience with River Place, in particular with Dr. Shepard. Be sure you ask for Dr. Shepard if you become a patient! She is so nice and very thorough in all of her explanations. I never felt like she was trying to rush us through. I had a traumatic birth, and Dr. Shepard took the time to make sure I understood everything that happened, and check in about my mental health. The office is also always running on time, which is nice. Highly recommend!!

I recently started seeing Dr. Thoppil and I came to him because I have been struggling with keeping a pregnancy. I am truly appreciative of his proactive mindset and his efforts in working with me to find some sort of solution. He’s efficient, caring, evidence based and also makes me feel heard. So thankful to be under his care. Hopefully we are successful in this pregnancy journey to have him deliver our baby!

This place is literally greedy and takes your all money. If I knew this, I would never choose here ever. Never ever come here. Because they seem very nice and friendly and since it’s related to your baby, you feel very good. Until bills are coming. This is the most expensive ob/gyn. They push you to take all tests and charge you in crazy amount. Even if you have best insurance, you pay a lot. John Toppil is absolutely rip off for people of Austin and Texas. Never ever come here.

Wow! This place is awesome! Best OBGYN visit EVER! Called to make an appointment. Receptionist was super sweet and schedule me right away. I was seen by Dana Wicker, WHNP-BC. Front and intake staff were super friendly. I was seen right away. Got my annual done, blood work, I even got a flu shot! How wonderful. I was scheduled a couple days later for my mammogram. Ladies, get it done, y’all!! Destiny was fun “to work with”. She was able to get things done in no time and was gentle as can be. Honestly, this was the best experience in healthcare since I’ve been living here since 15 years. Thank you everyone, for making my visit so wonderful. ♥️

Love Dr. Thoppil! I just moved back to town after 2yrs away and really hadn't found a doctor who I liked during that time. I had seen Dr. Thoppil for 2yrs before my move and had such a great experience that upon coming back I made sure to give his office a call! And WOW what a difference it made going to Riverplace OB/GYN! But ESPECIALLY with Dr. Thoppil! I was reminded how hard it is to find good care cause when you do- its noticeable! Every time I'm there I feel seen, heard, comfortable, and completely at ease. I'm never left waiting, I never feel brushed off, and there's always great conversations! All I can say is that I'm grateful to be back!

I am thrilled that I found Dr Thoppil. Excellent bed side manner. Always tuned into the latest data and tells you the truth (not just what you want to hear). Telehealth appointments are available and incredibly easy to use. Highly recommend him and I’ve seen at least 5 other OBs in the Austin area. None of them gave me as good a feeling as Dr Thoppil.
